Viscosity, Conductivity and Density of Fused Silver Chloride
نویسنده
چکیده
The density, the electrolytic conductivity, and the viscosity of molten silver chloride doped with LiCl, KCl, CsCl, and BaCl2 have been measured in the concentration range 0 ^ xdopant — 0.1 and temperature range 740 K ^ Tm 900 K. The molar conductivity, A, decreases linearly with -̂ dopant•> the curve being independent of the charge of the added cation. Only in the case of LiCl is a very small increase of A observed. The viscosity of the melt remains virtually unchanged when doped with alkali halides. Addition of BaCl2 leads to a strong increase of the viscosity. The findings show that for these systems no correlation exists between the conductivity and the viscosity. It is further suggested that there is a strong influence of the long range Coulomb interaction on the viscosity of molten salts.

Low transmission of heat is one of the major problems for heat exchanger fluids in many industrial and scientific applications. This includes cooling of the engines, high power transformers to heat exchangers in solar hot water panels or in refrigeration systems. In order to tackle these problems in thermal industries, nanofluids could play a significant role as excellent heat exchanger materia...
متن کاملDNA nanopore translocation in glutamate solutions.
Nanopore experiments have traditionally been carried out with chloride-based solutions. Here we introduce silver/silver-glutamate-based electrochemistry as an alternative, and study the viscosity, conductivity, and nanopore translocation characteristics of potassium-, sodium-, and lithium-glutamate solutions. We show that it has a linear response at typical voltages and can be used to detect DN...
متن کاملThe Study of Thermal Conductivity Silver/Water Nanofluid
In present study, the thermal conductivity of silver/water nanofluid was investigated experimentally. Four different volume concentrations of nanofluids (2, 3, 5 and 10%) were prepared by dispersing silver nanoparticles in water. The properties of nanofluids were measured by varying the temperature from 20ºC to 100ºC and also, different sizes of nanoparticles dispersed in water (20-30, 50-60 an...

A biocompatible microemulsion system comprising of isopropyl myristate (IPM) as oil, tween 80 as a non-ionic surfactant and isobuthanol as co-surfactant was studied experimentally at 298.15 K. The pseudo-ternary phase diagram for the microemulsion system has been delineated at different surfactant to co-surfactant mass ratio of 1:1, 2.4:1 and 4:1. Some physico-chemical properties such as densit...
